Premium Stainless‑Steel Filter Housing
The SST1HA is a heavy‑duty housing unit designed to accommodate a broad variety of drop‑in filter cartridges (1‑50 µm nominal, depending on cartridge selection) and to handle demanding water filtration applications where durability, high temperature and high pressure resistance are required.
Why the SST1HA stands out
-
Robust construction: Features a 304 stainless steel sump with a 316 or 316L stainless steel head/casting for maximum strength and corrosion resistance.
-
High operating limits: Rated for up to 300 psi maximum working pressure and up to 200 °F (≈93 °C) in hot‑water service.
-
Versatile filtration compatibility: Accepts standard double‑open‑ended style cartridges (such as models AP110, AP117, AP124, AP420) giving end‑users flexibility in media choice (sediment, carbon, specialty).
-
Simplified maintenance and installation: Includes mounting bracket, housing wrench, and uses a “Sure Seal” ring nut connector design to help ensure proper cartridge sealing and easier cartridge change‑out.
-
Small footprint, whole‑house ready: With a diameter around 4.16″ (≈106 mm) and height around 12″ (≈305 mm), it fits standard whole‑house / point‑of‑entry systems where space is moderate and demands are strong.
Key Specifications
-
Inlet/outlet size: ¾″ NPT (horizontal or vertical depending on installation)
-
Maximum flow rate: Up to approximately 8 gallons per minute (≈30.3 L/min) in typical size applications.
-
Material: Sump – 304 stainless steel; Head – 316 or 316L stainless steel.
-
Dimensions (approx.): Height ~12″ (≈305 mm) x Diameter ~4.16″ (≈106 mm)
-
Max operating temperature: 200 °F (≈93 °C)
-
Max operating pressure: 300 psi (≈2,070 kPa)
-
Compatibility: Accepts cartridges rated 1‑50 µm depending on media choice; housing itself does not define micron rating.
Ideal Use‑Case
This housing is ideal for:
-
Whole‑house (“point‑of‑entry”) installation for a single‑point filter preceding all household water use, particularly in homes or light commercial applications.
-
Systems where hot water (up to 200 °F) or high pressure (up to 300 psi) may be present — e.g., boiler feed, commercial kitchens, heavy‑use residences.
-
Installations where durability and long‑term service life are critical — stainless‑steel construction avoids common plastic housing failure modes.
- Applications requiring flexibility in cartridge media — since the housing works with a variety of drop‑in cartridges, you can tailor your filtration to sediment, chlorine taste/odor, scale, or specialty contaminants.
Installation & Maintenance Notes
-
Install on the cold‑water supply line, ensuring orientation aligns with flow direction marked on housing.
-
Use a dedicated shut‑off valve upstream and downstream of the housing for safe cartridge changes.
-
Ensure adequate clearance around the housing for cartridge change‑out (remove head, replace cartridge, reseal).
-
Seal threads with appropriate PTFE tape or sealant that is compatible with potable water applications.
-
When changing the cartridge: relieve system pressure, unscrew the ring‑nut, remove the cartridge, inspect/clean the sump, replace O‑ring if necessary (lubricated with food‑grade lubricant), insert new cartridge, tighten ring‑nut with included wrench to manufacturer torque.
-
Because the housing can accept cartridges from 1‑50 µm, choose the cartridge that matches your contaminant reduction goals and flow/pressure requirements.
-
Regularly inspect for leaks, corrosion, or unusual pressure drop. If pressure drop becomes significant, it may be time to change the cartridge or service the housing.
-
While the housing is rated 200 °F, for many residential plumbing systems the typical cold water will be much cooler; nonetheless, the higher rating gives robustness for demanding conditions.
-
Note: Cartridges are not included with the housing; you must purchase compatible cartridges separately.
